Where is the secondary fuse box? ›

The main fuse box is typically located under the hood, while secondary fuse panels might be inside the car, often near the dashboard or steering wheel. The fuse's wire conductor breaks when the current exceeds the ampere limit, which manufacturers usually define along with different color codes on each fuse.

Usually, you will find two fuse boxes in the car. One is located under the hood and the other is found in the dashboard or near the steering wheel.

Fuse boxes are commonly found in utility rooms, porches or under-the-stairs cupboards. You may also have one in your hallway or garage. Wherever your fuse board is located, you must have easy access to it. Make sure you keep the area surrounding your fuse box clear from clutter.

Locate the instrument cluster fuse.

This is typically found inside the fuse box, which is located under the dash on the driver's side of the car.

It is possible for automotive fuses to go bad without blowing. They may become corroded due to moisture, but it very rarely happens. Most of the time, they just get blown. Even if fuse corrosion almost never happens, your automotive fuses are still worth checking out routinely to make sure they're all good.

Can a blown fuse cause a car not to start? ›

Blown fuse – Sometimes the simplest explanation is the best one. A blown fuse in the starter circuit could be the cause of a no-start problem. Broken or corroded wiring – Damaged or dirty wires to the battery or to the starter solenoid (or wires that are loose) can prevent sufficient power from reaching the starter.

The fuse panel is in the right-hand side of the passenger footwell behind a trim panel. To remove the trim panel, pull it toward you and swing it away from the side. To reinstall it, line up the tabs with the grooves on the panel, and then push it shut.

You may find the fuse box in the basem*nt, garage, attic, or behind a small metal door on an interior wall. Fuse panels that don't have a box around them might be in the basem*nt, garage, or attic.

The first thing to do is find your main fuse box (these days called a consumer unit), which will be in the same place as your electricity meter. They're often in the main hallway of a house, in a purpose-built cupboard.
