FLORENCE, Ala. – The Owls (14-32) snagged a win on their way out of town over the Lions (30-15) thanks to a complete game shutout from Lindsey Kyte Sunday afternoon.

The game began with Stella Henry reaching via an infield single toward second base. It was the first time in the series she reached base. She promptly followed it up with a stolen base, her 22nd of the season. She was brought home thanks to an error from the UNA defense off the contact from Madison Miller toward shortstop. Henry screamed from second to home on the play to notch a 1-0 lead and the first lead of the series for Kennesaw State. The speed persisted in the first as Miller then swiped second base two pitches later, remaining perfect on stolen base attempts this season at 11 for 11.

The runs did not stop there as Kiera Cooper reached via another error from UNA which opened the door for Macie Howes. Howes poked the ball into shallow center field to score Miller for a 2-0 lead in the first inning. The first inning provided more runs than either game from the doubleheader the day prior for the Black and Gold.

In the home half of the first, Reese Evans laid out to catch an infield blooper, keeping the leadoff runner at first base. That was followed by the season's first 3-6 double play to end the inning still with a two-run lead for the Owls.

In the second inning, Miller made another stupendous grab in left field as she laid out to snag it for the second out of the inning.

In the bottom of the fifth, Lindsey Kyte was able to wiggle out of a logjam that began with a leadoff walk from UNA. One out later, a single and an error for KSU brought the tying run to second base with just one out. Kyte forced the fielder's choice that caused a pickle between third and home for the Lion runner. After five exchanges, Guzowski tagged the runner for the second out before Kyte ended the inning with a groundout to Guzowski to keep it at 2-0.

In the top of the sixth, Hannah Harvey laced a double into the left center gap. Kassidy Amerson-Fox pitch ran for Harvey. Evans slapped an RBI single through to grab an insurance run for the 3-0 lead.

In the seventh inning, Henry collected yet another yet as she singled to right field. Miller then slapped an RBI triple down the first base line to command a 4-0 advantage. It's her first career triple. She came around to score via a sacrifice fly from Guzowski to cap off five unanswered runs.

Kyte bolstered the Lions offense down the rest of the way to secure a 5-0 victory.
